Our next lecture event is scheduled for Wednesday, May 8.
Fr. Stephen Pitts, SJ, will be our guest speaker and his topic is The God Who Breaks Down Barriers: Incorporating the Spiritual Exercises Into Work at the US/Mexico Border.
This talk will apply the the tools of the Spiritual Exercises to the influx of migrants from Mexico and Central America requesting asylum at the US/Mexico border. We will look at a Jesuit-sponored economic development project in Chiapas, Mexico that creatively addresses the root causes as to why this region and other regions of southern Mexico and Central America continue to send migrants north to the United States. The lessons learned from the Jesuit experience in Chiapas apply to other contexts as well, both in the developing world and in the developed. Come join us to see the power of Ignatian Spirituality and Catholic Social Teaching come together to reveal a God at work who breaks down barriers.
This event will take place in the Fleur de Lis room at the Cardinal Rigali Center (20 Archbishop May Drive, St. Louis, MO 63119).
Please note, this is a new venue for this event.
